Workshop/Course Description:
This workshop is an introduction to Deaf-Hearing Latinx teaming. It will be used to increase extralinguistic knowledge for both Deaf & hearing Latinx interpreters. This orientation will help the working interpreter determine which interpreting situations are best served by a Tandem Team using red flag indicators of settings, consumers, and stakes. We will also discuss how to succeed in negotiating for a Deaf Interpreter in these settings. Once this basis is established, we will delve into the mechanics of DI/HI teaming. Hands-on practice will include strategizing and role-playing scenarios.
